چکیده
Abstract We present different methods of unsupervised learning which can be used for outlier detection in high energy nuclear collisions. This method is particular interest heavy ion collisions where a direct comparison experimental data to model simulations often ambiguous and it not easy determine whether an observation due new physics, incomplete understanding the known physics or artefact. The UrQMD generate bulk background events as well variants may result from misidentified centrality detector malfunctions. presented here generalized novel effects. To detect outliers, dimensional reduction algorithms are implemented, speciftically Principle Component Analysis (PCA) Autoencoders (AEN). find that mainly reconstruction error good measure distinguish outliers background. performance compared using ROC curve. It shown number reduced (encoded) dimensions describe single event contributes significantly task. best suited separate requires reconstructing at same time small parameters.

متن کاملDileptons in Heavy-Ion Collisions
Due to their penetrating nature, dileptons are a valuable probe for the properties of the hot and/or dense medium created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Dilepton invariant-mass spectra provide direct access to the properties of the electromagnetic current-correlation function in strongly interacting matter. In this paper an overview is given of our current theoretical understanding of th...
متن کاملHeavy ion collisions and cosmology
There are interesting parallels between the physics of heavy ion collisions and cosmology. Both systems are out-ofequilibrium and relativistic fluid dynamics plays an important role for their theoretical description. From a comparison one can draw interesting conclusions for both sides. For heavy ion physics it could be rewarding to attempt a theoretical description of fluid perturbations simil...
متن کاملHeavy Ion Collisions Phenomenology Overview
The reach of collider energies in heavy-ion collisions has profoundly changed our understanding of QCD under extreme conditions. I review some these new developments and comment on the properties of the produced medium as extracted from experimental data, as well as the exciting new opportunities which will be open at the LHC. QCD is a theory with a very rich dynamical structure but difficult t...
